Phase-locked soliton pairs in a stretched-pulse fiber laser.
We report the experimental observation of stable pulse pairs with a +/-pi/2 phase difference in a passively mode-locked stretched-pulse fiber ring laser. In our setup the stabilization of interacting subpicosecond pulses is obtained with a large range of pulse separations, namely, from 2.7 to 10 ps, without the need for external control.

We explore ordered soliton ensembles in Kerr microresonators. These soliton crystals are stabilized through collective soliton interactions mediated by defects in resonator mode structure, and require only adiabatic tuning of the pump for generation. متن کاملBlack and gray Helmholtz Kerr soliton refraction
Refraction of black and gray solitons at boundaries separating different defocusing Kerr media is analyzed within a Helmholtz framework. A universal nonlinear Snell’s law is derived that describes gray soliton refraction, in addition to capturing the behavior of bright and black Kerr solitons at interfaces. Key regimes, defined by beam and interface characteristics, are identified and predictio...
متن کاملAiry-soliton interactions in Kerr media.
We investigate and analyze temporal soliton interactions with a dispersive truncated Airy pulse traveling in a nonlinear fiber at the same center wavelength (or frequency), via split step Fourier numerical simulation. Truncated Airy pulses, which remain self-similar during propagation and have a ballistic trajectory in the retarded time frame, can interact with a nearby soliton by its accelerat...
متن کاملSpatial Kerr soliton collisions at arbitrary angles.
The theory of spatial Kerr solitons is extended to colliding beams that are neither almost-exactly copropagating nor almost-exactly counterpropagating. Our new Helmholtz formalism yields results that are consistent with the inherent symmetry of the collision process and that are not predicted by existing paraxial descriptions. Full numerical and approximate analytical results are presented. The...
